Malibu Point was closed Sunday, September 22, to all but six members of the Windansea Surf Club, while a lamenting Malibu Surfing Association looked on as the Windansea people worked over MSA’s home waves.

The event was the final heat of the Malibu Invitational, and by the time the finals rolled around, MSA, Blue Power, Collective Awareness, Long Beach and Las Olas surf clubs had all been put away by the Windansea guns.

Angie Reno came up first, barely greasing by Peter Johnson by a half-point. Purpus was third, Bigler fourth, Doyle fifth, and Kent Layton followed in sixth.

Besides sweeping the surfing competition, Windansea also came first in the paddle event, putting the lid on Malibu’s humiliation.
