Upbeat and versatile surfer-filmmaker from the South Bay area of Los Angeles; a regular in Taylor Steele videos during the 1990s, and director-star of his own popular 

 series. Browning was born (1974) in Newport Beach, moved with his family to South Bay (first Torrance, then Hermosa Beach), and began surfing at Hermosa Pier in 1986, at age 12. From 1990 to 1992, Browning was a member of the elite NSSA National Team. While he had little success as a competitive pro surfer, Browning's fluid style and limber whip-like turns helped make him a media favorite, and he was regularly featured in surf magazines and videos, including 

 (1997), all filmed and produced by video king Taylor Steele. 

In 1995, branching out, Browning co-founded Seventeen, a beachwear line, along with Steele, Jason Weatherly, and Conan Hayes; two years later, 

 magazine, noticing that the clothing brand was getting attention, threatened legal action and the new company folded. 

After an informal mentorship with Steele—and backed by Steele's Poor Specimen production house—Browning began making his own films, and in 2002 he filmed and produced 

), which was followed less than a year later by 

, at which point the series template was set in stone: put four-to-six good-time-loving male pro surfers (including 

 mainstays Donavan Frankenreiter and Benji Weatherley) into an RV, start driving, and roll film for two or three or four weeks at a time; hangovers, squabbles, broken wind, boredom, banter—put in all onscreen, filtered down to a PG-13 level. Quality surf was hoped for but not essential. "I realized that when I went on a surf trip," as Browning later told SURFER Magazine, "the waves were part of the experience but not the main part. It's more about the people you go with, the people you meet, and all the things that go wrong along the way. That's what you remember."

installments were presented as episodes on Fuel TV and as stand-alone titles. Although still popular, the series was not turning much of a profit, and Browning shelved the project in 2010 and took a media-development position with long-time sponsor Body Glove, and eventually became the company's Entertainment Director. He also worked on video projects for Red Bull and the STV (snow, skate, surf television) network. 

In 2021, Browning was hired as an advisor-coach to WCT contender Tatiana Weston-Webb; at the end of the year, Weston-Webb finished runner-up to Carissa Moore for the world title.
