Amphibious bodysurfer from Honolulu, Hawaii; winner of the first professional bodysurfing contest, and unchallenged as the world's best bodysurfer from the mid-1970s to the early '90s. "If Charles Darwin were alive today," two-time Pipeline Masters winner Rory Russell said in 1994, describing Cunningham's half-man/half-fish physiology, "Mark would have blown his mind and sent him back to the drawing board."
