Tabeling, Mike (1949 – 2014)

Lanky regularfooter from Cocoa Beach, Florida; runner-up in the 1968 United States Surfing Championships, and often referred to as the East Coast's first international-caliber surfer. "His presence is instantly overwhelming," surf journalist Matt Walker said of Tabeling in 1998. "The chiseled face, the sheer mass, the confident awareness. Your first impression will be awe."
