Western Surfing Association (WSA)

California amateur competitive surfing association, originally based in Hermosa Beach, California, formed in 1968 after the United States Surfing Association (USSA) split into four regional groups. The Western Surfing Association (WSA) for the most part retained the USSA rules and bylaws, along with most of the USSA board of directors, with Hoppy Swarts serving as the last USSA president and the first WSA president.
