It was an earthquake wave, and I rode it till I skidded up on the beach amongst all the beach umbrellas and blankets and picnic paraphernalia.

I started to tell you why I’m deaf. I got hit by lightning and it knocked me about 15 feet flat on my back. It was such a loud noise; when you hear thunder way off you don’t realize how loud it is, but when it’s right next to you, why, it ruined the nerves in my ear, so I’ve never been able to hear well since.
