Brilliant but moody surfboard designer-shaper from Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii, generally regarded as the sport's most influential boardmaker; creator of the popular Bing Pipeliner model longboard in 1967, and venerated in the late '60s and early '70s as the first master of shortboard design.
