The first interview, below, is excerpted from “Maturing Like an Artist,” written by Drew Kampion and published in the May 1969 issue of SURFER, just a few months after Doyle won the ’68 Duke Invitational at age 28. The second interview, opening on the topic of on Doyle’s new but ill-fated “single-ski” invention, is taken from “A Conversation with Mike Doyle,” by Doug Fiske, which ran in the November 1970 issue of Surfing.
