Towering waves up to 20 feet high, rides as much as 600 yards long, stolen boards, a disqualified Australian team, stowaways, small surf not over six feet high, and some 67 injuries combined to make the International Surfing Championships at Makaha Beach an extravaganza which will be rehashed wherever surfers gather for years to come.
